Cities are increasingly becoming the focus of transitions to sustainable, resilient futures. In this talk, Dr. Idil Gaziulusoy will present the process, findings and outputs of Visions and Pathways 2040 project. Visions and Pathways 2040 project was a transdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder project which used design-led and participatory methods to develop visions and scenarios for low-carbon futures in Australian cities during a politically challenging period while Australia had a climate change denier Prime Minister.
Dr. Idil Gaziulusoy is Assistant Professor of Sustainable Design in the School of Arts, Design and Architecture of Aalto University. She is a sustainability scientist and a design researcher. Her research inquires into non-business-as-usual urban futures in the context of sustainability transitions. In the times remaining from opening up the minds of students to plant seeds of change and chasing exciting new knowledge through research, Idil provides strategic consultancy to organisations and cities on proactively taking part and innovating in the current context of large, systemic changes for sustainability. Idil has lived and worked in New Zealand, Australia, Turkey and Finland.
